Chapter 84: Su’s Grand Idea

Suzu dreams of a new life…

Suzu, third born daughter of the tenth generation of the Ikeda family, had begun to feel… ignored. She was almost smack dab in the middle of her siblings. Well, she might as well be: Chiyo, Sayuri, HER, Kimi, then the triplets (she counted them as one). “Typical middle child thinking!” Her grandmother always told her. Her grandmother wasn’t really the nicest woman so Su didn’t think much of her comments.

As a child she was always left to her own devices. She often played on her own on the pirate ship and made up a little game where she was the pirate queen that ruled over her crew. It was her favorite game, actually. As she got older (and her brothers became more annoying) her make believe became a little darker and she took out her annoyances on her pretend male subjects.

Shortly after her grandparents’ deaths she became a teenager and started thinking of her future. What did she want to do with her life?

What if she wanted to live her life as a free person?

07-13-15_9-34 PMHer childhood dreams of becoming a pirate queen kept coming back to her. THAT is the life she wanted. But could she have it?

07-13-15_9-35 PM-3Nah. It seemed unlikely she would be able to have the life of a pirate queen. This wasn’t the 1600s. Plus there was no way she’d get away with enslaving her hypothetical boy-toys.

AN: I couldn’t think of how to play the Amazon Challenge with a clear conscious so this was my solution! (I don’t knooow, there’s just something about the challenge that makes me feel bad, lol…) When Suzu becomes a YA she’ll get saved and start her own story. 🙂 It’s a fantasy woooorld!

    Also, I’m a big fan of Suzu’s spunk and self-confidence! She’s going to make an awesome (virtual) Amazon queen. 🙂

    (I know what you mean about the challenge…I agree with that, since our Sims are not just virtual dolls – we give them life. I feel the same with my ROS series at times, though the idea of such a challenge to me is too tempting to resist attempting it anyway.)

    2. I think I missed the majority of your comment SO…!
      I also really want to do the 100 baby challenge! I had a bad habit in Sims 3 of making a sim that had lots of kids from different parents and struggled to make ends meet and all that (guys and gals). Like a complete 180 of my life. It’s harder to do in Sims 4! If I had a major complaint it would be I miss jealousy. Like the real stuff where they come up and slap you for flirting! It’s very tame in this game. It’s probably by design but I miss that aspect.

      1. Totally agree with you about the jealousy mechanic! Here they just look so sad and brokenhearted…I’ll have to get Lila the Player trait PRONTO. Or just continue making her a ninja when dealing with all these men.

          1. I’m not sure about that; I’ve seen a guy get very sad when another Sim was flirting with his love interest before, just by passing by them. Also the 100 Baby Challenge makes it hard to move anyone else in ;P

  4. Okay, I totally cheated and only read gens 9 and 10, but I swear, I’ll get around to the whole thing some day.

    Anywho, I LOVE the idea of this challenge really just being a ‘story’ — it kind of reminds me of the movie Suckerpunch, where she’s admitted to a corrupt psych ward, but then has this whole fantasy that she’s really living in a brothel, and then another fantasy inside that fantasy that she’s really some badass video game character…yeah, this reminds me of that. She’s stuck in a legacy, but then has this fantasy that she’s really a badass amazon empress. I can’t wait to read it — I’m really liking her so far!

    1. I’m okay with you only reading gen 9 and 10 for now! :)) There’s a lot of silly stuff here, lol!

      That movie sounds intense!

      I really hope I can do the idea justice! This was the only way I could think to do this challenge and use her. I couldn’t make the situation work in the modern world. 🙂

      Tonight I started working on the next intro/chapter 1 sort of deal so cross your fingers it goes okay!! 🙂

      1. It is a really intense movie — if you aren’t really paying attention, it’s like, “what is this video game crap? I thought this was a movie?” But it has sooo much deeper of a meaning, and the ending is amazing. If you’re ever in the mood for an action/adventure/intense movie, check it out! I’m sure the story will be amazing — I can’t wait!!

  5. I love this idea, too! I’ve got qualms about the Amazon challenge, too–don’t think I can do it, actually. But this is a great way to approach that! And how wonderful for Suzu! It’s going to be so exciting. I love the writing in this chapter, also!

      Thank you! The challenge doesn’t fit with my morals but if I can make it semi-historical-fiction I can put them aside, haha! I have been planning out the rules and etiquette of the culture. 🙂

  6. This is a super cool idea. I have the same problem with the Amazon Challenge and not wanting to enslave men. Plus at the moment, I don’t know how to end it. It’s not like the challenge comes with an ending. I look forward to reading this especially as Suzu is also the name of my little yellow robot! I have a special place in my heart for any Suzu.

  8. I’m actually really hesitant about Amazon challenges, but given that one of my stories is one I decided to give this a go since I keep seeing your updates in the Storyteller Group 🙂 I LOVE the way you set this up as fiction, definitely helps the conscience!

    1. Doesn’t it?? I’ve been reading a lot of historical fictions about Chinese history and it’s really influencing me with the etiquette and type of thinking that might be going on in such a society. Chinese and Japanese history are obviously not the same but it’s much easier to put characters in a situation of unfairness when I think of it like a book. I’m reading one about Empress Cixi of 19th century China and it was all so unfair! Women had no lives outside of pleasing their husband or families. Makes your blood boil…
