One-Year Blogoversary!

I can’t believe it’s been one whole year!!!

We’ve been through SO MUCH with this blog. First we were on tumblr and the forums, then we added blogspot (hisss!), then finally we moved here! :snuggles WordPress:

I took a couple breaks from the game when things got busy in my real life but there were at least two updates a month so I didn’t completely abandon the blog. 😉 My blogging style started out slowly with few screenshots. I learned how to take better in game shots and to take more breaks to get the best shots. I have the stability of the game to help with that, so, thanks, game devs! I could have never done this with Sims 3. It would have been a disaster!

We didn’t lose too many sims to culling and I never lost any of my heirs to culling, either! (That reminds me that I need to collect the ghosts for Eiji in Newcrest…) I cheated in my legacy a lot but I only cheated because it was more fun. If it wasn’t fun why would I do it? 😛

I abandoned a couple games and stories but I didn’t enjoy them as much as I’d hoped. I think I’ll eventually finish (actually start?) the Wonder Child game. I also took too long between playing and writing to remember what happened in my ISBI to make a coherent story.

I have some more ideas in the works, too! There’s a rotation I have a solid idea for and I can use families I’ve created there to make my life easier. There’s also a drama (maybe?) I have in mind but I don’t know if I have the patience for it. Maybe that’ll actually be one I write out first then add screenies later.

Now I’ve got Suzu going and I’m itching to start Build Newcrest with Eiji. I’m hoping that I can keep two stories going on at once because I have a certain standard I’ve worked up to and I’m a perfectionist.

It seems so silly to talk about this blog like I’ve received an award or something but it’s been really good for me. I never finish things like this and finishing the legacy was a big win. You guys reading and commenting throughout the year really helped! It was a major boost to my drive to complete the game and coming here for such lovely comments was so wonderful. I love all of you!

Anyway… that’s it. Wish me luck on another year!

  1. Congrats! I’m so excited! I’ve loved reading your blog all year, and I love your Sims! I’ve been so lucky to have Aya still with me in the Hippies game, and I adored having Chiyo at Summer Camp! I’m excited that you’re thinking of a Rotation–I’m thinking of one after my legacy finishes, too! 🙂

    1. Rotations look like they’re so much fun! I like the idea of intertwining families and all that jazz. 🙂 I used to play an online game called Popmundo and I had a huge family on there I think could easily transfer to the Sims as my base family. I know it would be harder to get into a whole family than just one sim but I’m willing to try. 🙂

Thank you for being so enthusiastic about the Ikedas! I love you so much for it! ❤ You’re so encouraging. 😀 major hugs

      1. They’re an awesome family, and your legacy has been such an inspiration to me! You’re a trail-blazer, Meggles! One of the first of all of us to finish! So many times when I feel like I’ll never get done, I think of the Ikedas and I get inspired! 🙂

I’m SO, so proud of you for accomplishing this milestone! Sticking with your blog for so long is a real milestone, and not only that, you’ve completed a legacy challenge to boot! What a wonderful thing to celebrate!

  3. I totally agree with you about if a legacy isn’t fun, why do it (and bending/breaking rules to keep it that way).

Anyway, Congratulations on a year! And you’ve accomplished a lot, I like WordPress better too after moving over this year. And best wishes for this year as a blogger!

  4. Happy anniversary. 🙂 Yours (well, your Ikeda thread on the forums) was one of the first Sims 4 blogs I read, and one of just a handful that I’ve managed to read all of. I’m hooked on your new story! And so glad you moved to WordPress, ’cause that makes it a lot easier for me to “like” your posts, haha.
